August 30, 2017 by travelingpiggy Leave a Comment

This year I became an official total eclipse chaser. With Oregon within “accessible” distance from my home in San Francisco, I hopped in the car and started driving towards the Totality hot spot. Here is the gallery from my adventures in Oregon.

Getting ready to view total eclipse with my special solar glasses

The last time there was a total eclipse in the US (1979), I wasn’t even born yet. That’s why the rare occurrence of the “Great American Eclipse” was so fascinating to me. With the Path of Totality being accessible to me in the ‘hood, I became an official solar eclipse chaser. The event took place … [More…]

Travel Colorado

July 20, 2017 by travelingpiggy Leave a Comment

My friends and I have made a habit out of doing a fun, nature-filled road trip every Memorial Day weekend. This year’s Memorial Day weekend trip was to explore Colorado.  I’ve always loved Colorado for what it offered in the winter (for my snowboarding fix), but I have never truly explored this area in the … [More…]

Exploring The Grottos Ice Cave in Colorado

July 3, 2017 by travelingpiggy Leave a Comment

The Grottos is a short and easy looped trail located near Aspen, Colorado. Its appeal is the “hidden” ice cave on the trail. My friends and I visited The Grottos over Memorial Day weekend, so despite knowing there was an ice cave to explore, we didn’t expect much since it was in the middle of summer … [More…]

My solitude "candid" at Cub Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park

Cub Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park

We spent our last day at Rocky Mountain National Park hiking and chasing wildlife. We got lucky this day – the sky cleared up and we enjoyed sunshine for the day. There were lots of elk in the park, and we would occasionally see moose in the meadows/trees. There are many trails in the park … [More…]

Sunset over Rocky Mountain National Park

View of Maroon Bells from Maroon Lake Scenic Trail

In order to catch sun rise over Maroon Bells, the most photographed peak in North America, we woke up at 4AM and made our way up the windy road. The White River National Forest is about 10 miles from Aspen, but because of the windy roads, it took about 25 minutes for us to drive … [More…]
